If you’re going to be either a junior or senior NEXT September and you want to be considered for a scholarship, here’s what you do:
Go to the SOC website: http://www.hofstra.edu/Academics/Colleges/SOC/soc_scholarship.html
You can apply for all but three online.
The applications are also on the board outside the Dean’s Office.
If you’re interested in the Max Kolb scholarship, please see Prof. Katzman
Two other scholarships require special applications which are in Dean Murphy’s office:
THE FOX NEWS CHANNEL/AILES APPRENTICESHIP SCHOLARSHIP
The recipient of this scholarship will be given $10,000 in tuition remission for the 2011/2012 academic year and a paid summer internship at Fox News or Fox Business Channel in the summer of 2012. It requires a DAR, a resume and an essay.
The scholarship will be awarded to a rising Junior or Senior student who is dedicated to enhancing diversity in the field of journalism, video/television, or a related major and selected on the basis of demonstrated academic achievement and intention to pursue a career in journalism. Preference will be given to a student majoring in Journalism, Video/Television or a related major and who is from an underrepresented community.
The decision is made by Dr. Cornog and Fox News executives. See Assistant Dean Murphy for this application.
